I thought that I would start blogging about the many benefits that you can get from a diet that consists of fruits and vegetables. I hope to entice others to try a new fruit or  vegetable or even peak their interest about it.

Did you know that a diet that contains various fruits and vegetables can help to detoxify the body of free radicals. They can also  provide the body with important nutrients and vitamins, promote healthy organs, and also revitalize the skin?

The essential vitamins that are found in fruits and vegetables help to keep the body healthy. Sweet potatoes, carrot juice, beets, and greens help to maintain proper blood pressure levels. High levels of vitamin C can be found in oranges, strawberries, broccoli, and cantaloupe. Vitamin C helps to heal wounds, fight disease, and promote healthy teeth. Spinach and asparagus are high in iron and folate which helps to reduce the chance of spinal cord defects in developing fetuses.

Pears, artichokes, and apples contain a high source of fiber. These fibers will help to promote regularity and also lower cholesterol. Other benefits also include promoting weight loss as these vegetables and fruit can fill you up faster than foods that are laden with sugar and lots of calories.

Fruits and vegetables help to eliminate the risk of developing diabetes, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, as well as high-blood pressure. They are also easy additions to meals and can help you to lose weight.  A woman who is 30 years old needs approximately 1.5 cups of fruit per day as well as 2.5 cups of vegetables a day to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

So, the next time you are feeling hungry, instead of grabbing that bag of junk food, grab an apple, banana, pear, carrot sticks, celery, orange, or any other kinds of fruit or vegetables. They will fill you up and provide the body with important vitamins and nutrients.

Stay tuned into this blog for more interesting news about the acai berry, other fruits and vegetables, as well as some recipes.
